Role Overview
Johnson & Johnson is recruiting a Principal Data Scientist in Bengaluru to architect, build, and operationalize predictive and prescriptive models for intelligent HR workflows at enterprise scale.
In this technical leadership role, you will design model-driven solutions for consumption by both automated systems and business leaders. You will create machine-facing interfaces (features, signals, APIs) and explainable human-facing interfaces embedded into enterprise HR platforms, ensuring model fairness, privacy, and responsible AI compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Predictive & Prescriptive Modeling: Design, build, and deploy production ML models generating decision logic, feature signals, and recommendations for workforce workflows.

End-to-End Operationalization: Embed predictive intelligence into production platforms and APIs, establishing continuous model monitoring, drift detection, and automated retraining.

Technical Authority & Governance: Define enterprise standards for model governance, explainability (XAI), algorithmic fairness, data privacy, and ethical AI across human and machine decision paths.

Platform & Product Collaboration: Partner with data engineering, product management, and UX design teams to build cohesive intelligence platforms using Databricks.

Problem Framing & Systems Design: Translate unstructured, ambiguous workforce challenges into structured, scalable ML frameworks, establishing when decisions should be automated, augmented, or human-controlled.
Required & Preferred Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline.

Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience building, deploying, and maintaining predictive/ML models in production settings.

Technical Stack: Deep proficiency in Python, modern ML libraries (
scikit-learn,PyTorch,TensorFlow), feature engineering pipelines, and MLOps principles. -
Responsible AI: Demonstrated expertise in model explainability, algorithmic fairness, and data privacy governance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a quantitative field.

Hands-on experience with the Databricks platform (MLflow, notebooks, workflows, Delta Lake).

Prior domain experience in HR analytics, workforce planning, or organizational network analysis.
