About Johnson & Johnson HR Data & Intelligence

HR Data & Intelligence operates at the core of Johnson & Johnson’s global enterprise ecosystem, architecting the intelligence layer that powers workforce planning, talent engagement, and decision automation across a global workforce of 125,000+ employees. The unit builds production-grade AI engines and decision systems that blend advanced predictive analytics, employee listening signals, and responsible AI frameworks.

Role Overview

Johnson & Johnson is recruiting a Principal Data Scientist in Bengaluru to architect, build, and operationalize predictive and prescriptive models for intelligent HR workflows at enterprise scale.
In this technical leadership role, you will design model-driven solutions for consumption by both automated systems and business leaders. You will create machine-facing interfaces (features, signals, APIs) and explainable human-facing interfaces embedded into enterprise HR platforms, ensuring model fairness, privacy, and responsible AI compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Predictive & Prescriptive Modeling: Design, build, and deploy production ML models generating decision logic, feature signals, and recommendations for workforce workflows.
  • End-to-End Operationalization: Embed predictive intelligence into production platforms and APIs, establishing continuous model monitoring, drift detection, and automated retraining.
  • Technical Authority & Governance: Define enterprise standards for model governance, explainability (XAI), algorithmic fairness, data privacy, and ethical AI across human and machine decision paths.
  • Platform & Product Collaboration: Partner with data engineering, product management, and UX design teams to build cohesive intelligence platforms using Databricks.
  • Problem Framing & Systems Design: Translate unstructured, ambiguous workforce challenges into structured, scalable ML frameworks, establishing when decisions should be automated, augmented, or human-controlled.

Required & Preferred Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline.
    • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience building, deploying, and maintaining predictive/ML models in production settings.
    • Technical Stack: Deep proficiency in Python, modern ML libraries (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow), feature engineering pipelines, and MLOps principles.
    • Responsible AI: Demonstrated expertise in model explainability, algorithmic fairness, and data privacy governance.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a quantitative field.
    • Hands-on experience with the Databricks platform (MLflow, notebooks, workflows, Delta Lake).
    • Prior domain experience in HR analytics, workforce planning, or organizational network analysis.
