About the Role: Software Engineer (Unity & C#)

Are you an agile client-side programmer who loves clean code architecture, mobile lifecycle optimisation, and turning creative concepts into flawless gameplay mechanics? Scopely is seeking a Software Engineer (Unity) to accelerate its Casino division in Bangalore. This role is purpose-built for mobile developers bringing 2 or more years of experience with the Unity3D ecosystem who possess a strong foundational grip on object-oriented programming, data structures, and optimal memory management.

As a Unity Software Engineer, you will be the core technical translator bridging the gap between artistic vision and production deployment. Your daily focus will transcend baseline feature scripting; you will design maintainable game systems, engineer secure asset integration pipelines, profile runtime performance across diverse mobile skillsets, and squash technical debt or bugs prior to major release cycles. Working closely with game designers, artists, and system architects, you will directly influence the client-side architecture of a massive live-ops product enjoyed by millions of active players.

Key Responsibilities & Mobile Development Workflows

  • Game Feature Implementation: Develop, test, and ship highly interactive game functionality, features, and UI modules exactly matching technical design documents and product specifications.

  • Asset Pipeline Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional technical artists and animators to establish clean integration pipelines, streamlining how high-fidelity 2D/3D assets are ingested and optimized within the game roadmap.

  • Architectural Guardrails: Suggest, design, and implement optimal software solutions and architectural frameworks to keep code modular, scannable, and robust against high-velocity updates.

  • Profiling & Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve runtime performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, or spikes in battery consumption using advanced debugging and profiling tools.

  • Cross-Functional Ideation: Partner closely with game designers and artists to provide engineering feedback on implementation limits, offering creative technical workarounds that amplify game mechanics.

  • Technical Documentation: Write comprehensive, highly scannable technical blueprints, code commentary, and architecture specifications to preserve tribal knowledge across global engineering hubs.

  • Release Quality Management: Triage, isolate, and address client-side bugs, rendering artefacts, and hardware exception logs discovered during staging or subsequent production releases.

Candidate Prerequisites & Technical Skill Stack

Successful candidates must combine a strong, evidence-driven passion for mobile game loops with deep analytical and algorithmic problem-solving capabilities.

Required Experience & Educational Baseline:

  • Professional Tenure: 2+ years of hands-on experience developing, shipping, or maintaining mobile applications built natively within the Unity3D platform and ecosystem.

  • Core Logic Fluency: Advanced, clean programming capability in C#, paired with an excellent grasp of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, memory management, and OOP design patterns).

  • Production Habits: A natural flair for writing well-structured, optimal, and maintainable production code while adhering strictly to industry best practices.

Core Technical Stack Proficiencies:

  • Engine & Ecosystem: Unity3D engine mastery (UI Toolkit/UGUI, Scriptable Objects, asset bundles/addressables,and state management).

  • Version Control: Complete comfort managing code branches, conflicts, and cherry-picks within Git.

  • Diagnostics Toolkit: Solid experience using internal/external debugging, testing, and profiling frameworks (e.g.,Unity Profiler, Frame Debugger).

  • Build Lifecycles: Familiarity with mobile build systems, continuous integration pipelines, and platform compilation workflows.

Preferred Domain Pluses & Bonus Points:

  • Native Interoperability: Familiarity with low-level or mobile native languages like Objective-C, Java, or C++ to handle custom native plugin integrations.

  • AI Tooling Leverage: Direct experience or hands-on experimentation using AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate scripting workflows or automate unit testing.

  • Gaming Passion: A deep personal passion for mobile games, free-to-play mechanics, and player retention mechanics.
