Role Overview

Urban Company is recruiting a Data Science Intern for a 3-month mentor-led internship at its office in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh.

As part of the 2026 data science intake, each intern is paired directly with a data science mentor. Working on live, production-facing marketplace problems, you will clean and explore operational data, formulate statistical hypotheses, write SQL queries, build baseline machine learning models in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn), and present business-impact findings to cross-functional product leads.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Exploration & Cleaning: Run Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) on raw marketplace datasets using Python, Pandas, and NumPy.

• Baseline ML Modeling: Train, evaluate, and fine-tune baseline machine learning algorithms using Scikit-learn and statistical probability models.

• SQL Querying & Analysis: Extract, aggregate, and analyze multi-source operational metrics using structured SQL database queries.

• Model Evaluation & Iteration: Validate predictive model accuracy, monitor performance metrics, and document methodology in Jupyter notebooks.

• Stakeholder Presentation: Translate technical modeling outcomes into clear documentation, decks, and strategic insights for product and business teams.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications

Educational Background

• Target Degrees: Current students and recent graduates in B.E. / B.Tech, B.Sc / M.Sc (Statistics / Mathematics / Data Science / CS), BCA / MCA, or MBA (Analytics).

• Graduating Batches: 2026 and 2027 (Final-year students and fresh graduates).

• Academic Threshold: 60% or 6.0 CGPA and above preferred (consistent performance is valued, but strong personal projects and GitHub work are weighed alongside marks).

Technical & Soft Skill Requirements

• Core Technical Stack: Practical familiarity or eager approach toward learning Python, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, SQL, and Statistics/Probability.

• Good-to-Have Skills: Exposure to EDA, basic Machine Learning models, Jupyter Notebooks, Data Visualization, and Model Evaluation metrics.

• Soft Skills: Clear written English, problem-solving curiosity, ownership of assigned models, and comfort taking feedback during code reviews.

• Location & Availability: Based in or willing to relocate to Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh for the 3-month duration (standard business hours, Monday to Friday).
