  • Work Structure:

    • 100% Remote Opportunity: Work from anywhere within the United States adhering to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.

    • Hub Requirement: Candidates residing in the Washington, D.C. or Minneapolis metropolitan areas are required to work on-site a minimum of 4 days per week.

The Role: Director, Data Analytics

As a Director, you will sit at the intersection of client strategy, technical code governance, and artificial intelligence orchestration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Policy & Payment Model Engineering: Independently perform and supervise complex quantitative analysis to inform the lifecycle of Medicare and Medicaid value-based payment models.

  • Strategic Client Advisory: Serve as the core subject matter expert (SME) to public and federal stakeholders, building trusted relationships and presenting analytical findings to shape public health guidelines.

  • High-Velocity Database Querying: Oversee the efficient extraction, transformation, and structural manipulation of large-scale healthcare claims, eligibility registers, and enrollment data.

  • Advanced Methodological Application: Deploy machine learning, econometric time-series models, simulation, and sophisticated data visualisations to forecast healthcare expenditures and assess model quality metrics.

  • Personnel & Technical Governance: Mentor and manage technical staff, ensuring strict adherence to code quality control procedures, comprehensive versioning, and detailed documentation.

  • AI Workflow Transformation: Act as the strategic catalyst helping to oversee and drive the intentional adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automated workflows into daily technical analytics.


Technical Architecture & Prerequisites

We are seeking an established data executive with an authoritative command of federal health policy mechanisms and modern cloud data environments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: 8+ years of dedicated experience using analytics programming languages (SQL, Python, R, or SAS) within a research, consulting, or corporate environment.

  • Federal Policy Depth: 6+ years of specialised experience working on federal health policy issues, acting as an established SME in Medicare and Medicaid value-based payment models.

  • Data Domain Expertise: Advanced, hands-on understanding of healthcare claims data structures, enrollment data files, claim types, and institutional payment concepts.

  • Modern Cloud Infrastructure: Proven experience managing and working directly with engineering teams operating inside Snowflake and/or Databricks environments.

  • Leadership Track: Verifiable professional experience directly managing technical personnel and advising external clients.

  • AI Integration: Practical experience incorporating AI systems or LLM tools into technical development workflows.

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points):

  • Advanced academic coursework in econometric modelling, advanced statistics, or quantitative biostatistics.

  • Proven track record supporting multi-year federal payment model implementation contracts (e.g., CMS, HHS).

  • Deep experience interacting with complex, massive federal data environments like the Integrated Data Repository (IDR) or the Chronic Conditions Warehouse (CCW).

  • Active experience governing source control using GitHub.


Compensation, Perks & Benefits

  • Annual Salary Range: $134,600 to $230,800 per year (Base compensation tailored to local labor markets, experience, and specialized certifications).
