A leading global technology company, Meta, is hiring a Data Engineering Manager – Analytics to join the Instagram team in San Francisco. This is a senior-level leadership role responsible for designing and scaling data systems that power product innovation and business intelligence at a global scale.

Role Overview

The Data Engineering Manager will lead Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehousing strategy for a key Instagram product vertical. You will oversee data modelling, pipeline architecture, reporting frameworks, and cross-functional analytics initiatives.

This position requires a combination of:

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a BI and data warehousing strategy.

  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing analytics engineering team.

  • Architect scalable data models and production pipelines.

  • Ensure high standards of data integrity, reliability, and governance.

  • Define and monitor SLAs for datasets and reporting workflows.

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams.

  • Deliver dashboards and executive-ready insights to leadership.

  • Drive operational efficiency across analytics processes.

This role directly impacts product roadmaps and strategic decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in BI, data warehousing, or analytics engineering.

  • 4+ years of applied analytics experience (2+ years with PhD).

  • 2+ years of people management experience, leading teams of 3+.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a similar technical field.

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL.

  • Programming experience in Python, Java, or other object-oriented languages.

  • Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills.

  • Experience leading complex analytics initiatives independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in a technical discipline.

  • Experience in consumer web or mobile platforms.

  • Familiarity with Hadoop and distributed data systems.

  • Expertise in visualization tools and executive reporting.

  • Strong knowledge of metadata systems and performance optimization.
