Apply for the AI-ML Engineer position at Siemens Healthineers (Bangalore). Drive R&D data intelligence using Python, SQL, LLMs, Agentic AI, and semantic retrieval to orchestrate terabyte-scale enterprise analytics.

About the Company: Siemens Healthineers

Siemens Healthineers (operating under Siemens Healthcare Private Limited in India) is a global medical technology pioneer, continuously pushing the boundaries of healthcare innovation to improve patient care worldwide. By embedding advanced digital engineering, machine learning, and cloud-native intelligence into clinical workflows, the company transforms diagnostic imaging, laboratory diagnostics, and therapeutic care across international markets.

This AI-ML Engineer position is a core technical role based within Siemens Healthineers’ premier technology and innovation center in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Sitting directly inside the Research & Development (R&D) ecosystem, this specialised engineering squad builds next-generation data-centric platforms. The team focuses on breaking down enterprise data silos, implementing advanced semantic search, and engineering intelligent retrieval architectures to accelerate global R&D and operational workflows.

About the Role: AI-ML Engineer

Are you an experienced machine learning engineer who loves building intelligent systems at the intersection of large-scale data engineering and Generative AI? Siemens Healthineers is seeking an analytical, detail-oriented AI-ML Engineer with 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience. This permanent, full-time position operates under an Office/Site-only work model at the Bangalore campus.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between heavy enterprise data infrastructure and modern cognitive computing frameworks. Moving far beyond building isolated models, you will engineer end-to-end intelligent retrieval, enrichment, and generation pipelines. You will untangle data lineage across terabyte-scale relational databases, design high-performance backend APIs using FastAPI, and implement advanced retrieval patterns using Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI architectures, semantic search, and vector databases. This role is built for engineers who thrive in an R&D environment and excel at transforming unstructured enterprise data into accessible, production-ready corporate intelligence.

Key Responsibilities & AI-ML Workflows

  • Data Lineage & Source-to-Target Mapping: Analyze structured and unstructured data sources across terabyte-scale enterprise platforms, profiling data quality, decoding schemas, and establishing rigorous source-to-target mapping.

  • Intelligent Retrieval & Semantic Search: Design and support advanced data discovery frameworks utilising semantic search, vector database indexing, and metadata-driven discovery patterns to ensure highly reliable data retrieval.

  • Generative AI & Agentic Orchestration: Implement modern AI/ML models, LLMs, and Agentic AI frameworks to automate document/content generation, deep classification, semantic enrichment, and contextual content extraction.

  • Backend API & Service Engineering: Architect and support robust backend services and RESTful APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks to expose data-centric AI features within cloud-native architectures.

  • DataOps & Workflow Automation: Oversee data orchestration, workflow monitoring, and pipeline management systems, contributing actionable inputs to optimise CI/CD pipelines within a DataOps framework.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with global engineering squads, business analysts, and data architects to pinpoint specific data targets, execute multi-source integrations, and maintain scalable data logic.

Candidate Prerequisites & Technical Skill Stack

Candidates must offer a strong hybrid background combining foundational data engineering discipline with cutting-edge applied AI capabilities.

Required Experience & Educational Baseline:

  • Educational Credentials: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a highly quantitative equivalent field.

  • Professional Tenure: At least 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data analysis, or machine learning application development.

  • The Python & SQL Engine: Expert proficiency in Python for core data processing, automation, and AI/ML model integration, coupled with advanced SQL skills (T-SQL, Microsoft SQL, or Oracle) for schema navigation and multi-table transformations.

  • Big Data Literacy: Proven experience processing and managing massive, relational enterprise datasets scaling to multiple terabytes (TB scale).

Preferred Skills & Advanced AI Pluses:

  • Generative AI Stack: Direct, practical experience working with LLMs, Agentic AI architectures, vector databases, and semantic search/indexing technologies.

  • Semantic Web Tech: Desirable familiarity with Knowledge Graphs and Ontology Representation models.

  • Cloud Architecture: Foundational familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud-based data storage infrastructure, pipelines, and AI ecosystem services.

  • API Frameworks: Hands-on familiarity with FastAPI or comparable framework architectures for rolling out scalable backend microservices.

  • Interoperability Patterns: Exposure to modern model context integrations, custom connector services, or server-based orchestration paradigms.
