In this leadership role, you will bridge the gap between experimental data science and enterprise-grade production environments. You will lead a team of expert engineers to build, deploy, and scale ML models that optimise pricing, product recommendations, and global logistics for a leading North American wholesale distributor.

The Role: Manager, Machine Learning & MLOps

You will oversee the end-to-end ML lifecycle, from initial proof-of-concept to automated CI/CD pipelines. This role requires a rare blend of deep technical expertise in deep learning frameworks and the leadership acumen to manage complex technology workstreams.

Major Tasks & Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide guidance to a team of strong engineers, overseeing the development and support of AI/ML solutions.

  • Production Deployment: Lead the transition of models from experiments into production using robust MLOpsframeworks like Vertex AI, Kubeflow, or MLflow.

  • Project Governance: Track progress across multiple technology efforts, managing resource planning, budgeting, and governance compliance.

  • Operational Stability: Ensure technology solutions meet company needs while maintaining the stability and security of deployed applications.

  • Stakeholder Alignment: Build relationships with key stakeholders to align technology resources with high-impact business workstreams.

  • Mentorship: Provide coaching, performance feedback, and technical direction to your team of professional individual contributors.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a veteran in the AI space who thrives at the intersection of Cloud Architecture and Data Science.

Preferred Technical Expertise:

  • Experience: 7–10+ years in Data Science, Machine Learning, and MLOps.

  • Frameworks: Mastery of TensorFlow or PyTorch for designing regression, classification, and time-series models.

  • Cloud Native: Deep knowledge of GCP (highly preferred), including Vertex AI, cloud-native microservices, and event-driven systems.

  • Modern AI Stack: Hands-on experience with semantic search, vector databases, and graph technologies.

  • Automation: Proficient in MLOps and DataOps, including model monitoring, retraining strategies, and cost optimization.

  • Domain Impact: Proven track record applying ML to supply chain, pricing, and product recommendation engines.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related technical field.

  • Certifications: Cloud Architecture (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Architect) or AI-specific certifications (e.g., Vertex AI) are highly preferred.
