Streamline Supply Chain Operations & Lead Warehouse System Modernisation
Are you a supply chain systems expert who knows how to map physical warehouse floor operations into high-performance software workflows? We are seeking a Warehouse Management System (WMS) Implementation Consultant to join our consulting division, spearheading system optimisation, modernisation, and configuration initiatives for high-volume logistics and Third-Party Logistics (3PL) clients.
In this high-impact, fractional specialist role, you will act as the core Subject Matter Expert (SME) on industry-leading WMS platforms such as Blue Yonder (JDA), Manhattan Associates, or SAP EWM. You will bridge the gap between business requirements and physical system execution, configuring modules to eliminate fulfilment bottlenecks, boost inventory accuracy, and drive quick operational wins that enable enterprise-scale automation.
The Role: WMS Implementation Consultant
As an implementation strategist, you will evaluate existing distribution networks from day one, building actionable deployment roadmaps and overseeing complex software-to-hardware integrations.

-
Operational Assessment & Strategy: Evaluate existing warehouse layouts, operational friction points, and legacy system constraints to deliver an actionable modernization roadmap balancing immediate quick wins with long-term digital transformation.
-
WMS Configuration & Optimization: Hands-on configuration of core application modules covering inbound receiving, putaway optimization, advanced slotting, inventory cycle counting, wave planning, high-density picking, packing matrixes, and outbound shipping.
-
Enterprise Architecture Integration: Map, validate, and manage technical integrations connecting the WMS with broader Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), electronic data interchange (EDI) data flows, and automated material handling equipment/robotics.
-
Testing, Cutover & Go-Live Governance: Author precise User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scenarios, lead simulation dry-runs, manage systemic data mapping, and provide Tier-3 technical troubleshooting to resolve real-time edge cases during high-stress operational go-live cutovers.
-
Training & Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Author comprehensive technical documentation and explicit SOPs, translating complex system configurations into straightforward workflows to maximize user adoption across warehouse floor teams.
Technical Prerequisites & Required Skills
We are looking for a precision-oriented supply chain consultant who thrives in fast-paced distribution center environments and speaks the language of both warehouse floor managers and enterprise IT architects.
Required Qualifications:
-
Platform Expertise: Proven configuration mastery across at least one top-tier WMS ecosystem: Blue Yonder (JDA), Manhattan Associates (Active/SCALE), SAP EWM, or Körber (HighJump).
-
Operations Depth: Extensive foundational understanding of end-to-end supply chain mechanics, warehouse layouts, labor optimization, and fulfillment dynamics.
-
Integration Literacy: Strong practical grasp of software middleware, relational databases, EDI transaction mapping, and system communication protocols connecting WMS to ERP networks.
-
Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills with a verified history of managing expectations across diverse cross-functional groups, from C-suite supply chain executives to localized operations supervisors.
Preferred Experience (Bonus Points):
-
5+ years of dedicated professional experience leading end-to-end WMS implementations or complex version upgrades.
-
Deep exposure working inside third-party logistics (3PL) models, multi-tenant distribution centers, or high-SKU retail fulfillment facilities.
-
Proven measurable track record of success (e.g., demonstrably reduced cycle times, improved inventory tracking precision, or optimized pick-path efficiencies).
-
Familiarity with cloud-native WMS platform architectures or advanced warehouse automation technologies (AS/RS systems, conveyor sorting matrixes, or voice-directed picking).
What Success Looks Like
-
Measurable Velocity: Significantly accelerated order fulfillment speeds and eradicated inventory bottlenecks.
-
Sustained Precision: Substantial structural lifts in putaway accuracy, slotting optimization, and real-time inventory visibility metrics.
-
High Capability Utilization: Broad, enthusiastic user adoption of native WMS functionalities, eliminating reliance on inefficient offline spreadsheets or manual workarounds.
