As a Staff Engineer, you are a system leader. You don’t just write code; you define the technical roadmap and coordinate the activities of other engineers to achieve global-scale operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architectural Leadership: Design and deploy scalable, cloud-native backend systems using microservices and serverless frameworks.

• Technical Direction: Define the roadmap for engineering initiatives, ensuring they align with strategic business goals.

• Expert Development: Architect large-scale systems using Python (Django or Flask) with a focus on fault tolerance and high availability.

• System Stewardship: Proactively improve existing structures, condense repetition into generalized solutions, and govern API standards.

• Security & Rigor: Apply advanced security practices (encryption, access control) and establish engineering standards for code quality and operational excellence.

• Mentorship: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across cross-functional teams (Product, Infra, Operations).

 Required Skills & Success Profile

We are looking for a “System Thinker” who can balance time, quality, and complexity to deliver optimal solutions.

• Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical experience).

• Core Technical Mastery: Deep expertise in Python backend frameworks (Django/Flask) and distributed systems.

• Cloud-Native Background: Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Methodologies: Proven background in Agile/Scrum and high-performance system optimisation.

• Bonus Points: Contributions to open-source projects and experience in the payments or financial services industry.
