Coding in Tokyo: Google Software Engineering Internship 2026 (Japan)

This 8-17 week program is designed for students in their penultimate year of study. Whether you are working on massive scalability, storage solutions, or entirely new platforms like Chrome, Android, or YouTube, you will be part of a team that is changing the world.

 The Role: Solving Real-World Problems at Scale

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will transition from classroom theory to high-impact production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Problem Solving: Analyse complex information and evaluate results to choose the best technical solutions.

• Automation: Develop scripts to automate routine tasks, increasing efficiency across Google’s engineering teams.

• Collaboration: Work alongside world-class peers, managers, and cross-functional teams to support an innovative culture.

• Applied Knowledge: Apply your understanding of data structures and algorithms to solve large-scale applications and storage challenges.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Google Japan is prioritising applicants who already have the right to work in Japan and do not require visa sponsorship.

• Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.

  • You must be in your penultimate year of study (the year before your final year).

  • Solid experience with Data Structures and Algorithms.

• Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Unix/Linux, Machine Learning, TensorFlow, or Embedded Systems.

  • Proficiency in at least one: C, C++, Java, or Python.

  • Availability to work full-time for 8-17 weeks (start dates are flexible based on your school schedule).
