Zycus Careers: AI-First Java Developer (Mumbai)

Our Merlin AI engine powers autonomous workflows across the entire Source-to-Pay (S2P) lifecycle, and we need AI-Native Java Engineers in Mumbai to scale this vision.

We are looking for developers who think in prompts before implementations and use AI copilots as their primary coding companions. If your primary stack is Java + Spring Boot, but your real multiplier is Generative AI, you belong at Zycus.

 The Role: Building AI-Aware Systems

In this role, your productivity is measured through AI leverage. You will be responsible for building backend systems that are not only scalable but also “AI-consumable.”

Key Responsibilities:

• AI-Augmented Engineering: Build production-grade backend systems using GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and ChatGPT for code generation, refactoring, and performance tuning.

• Core Backend Architecture: Design and develop scalable Java services and Microservices using Spring Boot.

• AI-Aware System Design: Architect APIs and automation layers specifically designed to integrate with intelligent AI agents.

• Context Engineering: Apply advanced prompt engineering and context management to produce high-quality, maintainable code.

• Full-Stack Collaboration: Implement REST APIs, transaction management, and concurrency handling while working with relational databases and JPA/Hibernate.

• Continuous Innovation: Experiment with the latest AI tooling to push the boundaries of development velocity.

Your Technical Success Profile

We are looking for “10x Developers” who have a deep conceptual understanding of how LLMs reason.

• Experience: 2–5 years of strong hands-on Java backend experience.

• Core Skills: * Mastery of Core Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.

  • Deep knowledge of REST APIs and SQL databases.

• AI Proficiency: * Active daily usage of AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor).

  • Conceptual understanding of LLM fundamentals (tokens, embeddings, context windows).

  • Proven experience in Prompt Engineering for large codebases.

• Preferred: * Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and event-driven architecture (Kafka).

  • History of building internal AI automation scripts or tools.
